Heartland FBLA attends FLC in Kearney

The Nebraska Fall Leadership Conference was held September 23 in Kearney. This conference is a one-day workshop designed to train local chapter officers and members, to share information on Nebraska FBLA activities and goals, and to provide a significant “kick off” for a successful FBLA program of work. The theme this year is “FBLA: Get the Edge.”

The 2008-09 Nebraska FBLA goals are Education: develop state officer podcasts, provide recruitment presentations, inform chapters about Nebraska FBLA Foundation, promote Nebraska Money Smart Week; Drive: create Pledge activities, encourage joint FBLA and PBL activities, increase membership by 2 members per chapter (260), charter or reactivate 8 chapters; Greatness: gain 50 Business Achievement Award Future Level recipients, submit chapter articles to regional newspapers, achieve 35,000 Tally It Up hours; Effort: designate Community Service Month in October, encourage chapters to submit Get the Edge video clip for Nebraska FBLA website, raise $15,000 for the March of Dimes, raise $10,000 for the Nebraska FBLA Foundation.

The general session was led by Jonathan Sprinkles. His presentation included time-tested strategies to unleash your power to do more, have more and be more—no matter your background or skill level. Following the general session, the officers and members attended individual workshops, each pertaining to their office. In the afternoon, they attended another workshop presented by the state officers.

The following officers and members attended the conference: President Michelle Barr, Vice President Whitney Steingard, Secretary Katie Wilhelm, Treasurer Clint Kroeker, News Reporter Brianna Rader, Historian Crista Buller, and members Quint Geis, Christianne Kroeker and Jordan Hiebner. Also attending the conference was adviser Kristy Most.
