Junior High Christmas Party
by Linda Koehler
The day before school dismissed for Christmas break, the junior high were celebrating the end of first semester by watching a movie, exchanging Secret Santa gifts, and having a lip sync contest. The student senate members selected Pirates of the Caribbean as the movie of choice. After the movie was over, a drawing was held of all 7th and 8th graders to see who would be the lucky winner and would take the movie home. Rick Siebert's name was drawn, but he graciously refused since he already owned the movie. Janelle Huebert's name was drawn next, so she received the early Christmas present. After lunch, the lip sync contest was held. The groups had been working on their costumes and practicing for weeks. A big thank you goes out to the judges: Abigail Bechtel, Sierra Barrett, Lauren Klute, Garrett Kliewer, Mrs. Friesen and Mr. Hall. Thanks to Mr. Hall for helping with the music, too. Following the performances, the following awards were handed out: Best Lip Sync went to Jen, Justice and Morgan for "Our Song", Best Costuming went to Brenan, Cody and Austin for "What I've Done" from the movie "Transformers", and Best Overall Performance went to Mattison, Maelyn, Kaelyn and Ashton for "Let's Dance".
