Homecoming 2007

"FIESTA!" was the theme of this years Heartland Community Schools homecoming on the week of September 24, through the 29th. Monday was Pajama Day, Tuesday was Black and White Day, Wednesday was Fiesta Day, Thursday was Superhero Day and Friday was Huskie Spirit Day. There were many festivities through out the week. On Monday the high school marching band marched through the hallways of the school while playing the school song. There was also a tailgating party, a junior/senior volleyball game and a physical class competition. The Monday night competition was won by the sophomore class competitors, Taylor and Lance. Thursday’s activities consisted of a pep rally and time to decorate the gym for the dance. During the pep rally there was another physical competition and a trivia competition. The physical competition was won by Whitney and Nick of the junior class, while the trivia competition was won by Carlin and Jennifer of the sophomore class. To finish off the week there was a parade down Main Street that included the junior high marching band and royalty floats. After the parade there was a pep rally in the theater which consisted of more class competitions of dancing and singing. The dancing competition was won by the junior class competitors, Marlin and Caleb. The singing competition was also won by the juniors. The singers for the junior class were Chelsea and Quaint. The final standing for the class competition was: Juniors with 60 points, Sophomores with 58 points, Seniors with 50 points and Freshman with 44 points. Friday night was capped of with a impressive victory by the football team over the Sandy Creek Cougars with a score of 68-24. This score of 68 beat the previous record for most points in a game by one point which was set by the 1983 team versus Friend and the 2001 team versus Doniphan-Trumbull. The week’s festivities end on Saturday night with the Homecoming dance from 8pm to 12am.
