Lauren Klute and Whitney Steingard win national awards in Chicago.

Heartland FBLA Members Win National Awards

    The Heartland Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter traveled to Chicago, Illinois, for the National Leadership Conference from June 27 to July 2.  Lauren Klute, Lauren Braun, Whitney Steingard, Amanda Wall, and Jennifer Goossen along with adviser Kristy Most enjoyed the weeklong conference activities.  The group stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Chicago.

    Lauren Klute placed first in the nation in Accounting II.  She received a cash award of $750 from the American Institute of CPAs.  This was Lauren's third appearance at a national conference.  She has previously placed ninth in Accounting I and third in Word Processing I.

    Whitney Steingard placed ninth in Word Processing I.  This was Whitney's first time to compete at a national conference.

    Also competing at Nationals were Lauren Braun in Business Law, Amanda Wall in Word Processing II, and Jennifer Goossen in Word Processing I. 

    The state of Nebraska was represented very well during the National Awards Program.  Nebraska won 24 national awards including three national champions in Accounting II, Business Math, and Community Service Project.

    The group enjoyed the following activities during the week:  Blue Man Group performance at the Briar Street Theatre, tour of the Sears Tower and Chicago Board of Trade, shopping Michigan Avenue (The Magnificent Mile) in downtown Chicago, riverboat tour of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, Taste of Chicago, and a Ferris wheel ride at the Navy Pier which ended in a spectacular display of fireworks.
