2nd Grade Field Trip
The second graders celebrated the end of their dinosaur unit by traveling to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Paleontologist George Corner showed us fossils that are stored as a part of the Nebraska collection at Nebraska Hall and shared what his job as a paleontologist involves. While there, we also visited the lab and watched workers preparing the fossils for storage or future displays.
Our next stop was Morrill Hall where students explored all three levels of the museum. They were particularly impressed with the Encounter Center where they could experiment at being a paleontologist by discovering several bones in a specified digging site.
Students and the accompanying adults learned that just as Nebraska has a state bird and a state flower, it also has a state fossil. Do you know what Nebraska's state fossil is? Go the end of our slide show and you'll find out! Morrill Hall
